On 27th March we will have an Outing to the City of London as a follow-up to the February Special Interest Day, exploring the consequences of the Great Fire of London. In the morning we will be taken by coach to the Vintry Public House near the Monument. First stop coffee & biscuits, and a meet-up with our guide, Gerald Deslandes. Gerald (who you will have met if you come to our Special Interest Day in February) will take us on a tour of the churches and sites relevant to the story of the Great Fire and Wren’s work in its aftermath. The walk will be approximately 90 minutes and take place regardless of the weather. It will finish at the Museum of London.
The Museum has two cafes – one for light snacks, one for more serious eating. In the afternoon we will be free to go round the museum which includes a special exhibition on the Great Fire and its consequences. We will gather in the hall of the Museum at 4 pm for the journey home
The price is £44 – for this you get the coach trip to London & back, coffee when we get there, our guide to our walk around the city, and entrance to the Museum in the afternoon. The price of lunch is not included. Bookings from Elizabeth Dodwell, our Outings Secretary
